About Me
Hi, I’m Nicola—a Melbourne-based children’s book illustrator and fine artist with a love for turning educational content into joyful, character-led storytelling. I work across both traditional and digital media, creating richly textured illustrations that help young readers make sense of big ideas through imagination, humour, and heart.
With a background in textile, graphic, and UX design—as well as Fine art photography—I bring a multidisciplinary, design-savvy approach to every project. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Photography) and an Advanced Diploma in Multimedia, and have spent years working to tight deadlines alongside creative studios and design teams. That experience has shaped the way I approach illustration: with clear communication, craft, and a deep respect for collaboration.
My illustration is especially well suited to STEM picture books, non-fiction for children, and educational publishing. I’m drawn to stories where facts meet wonder—whether it’s a curious frog investigating gravity, or a bee navigating the city skyline. My goal is always to spark curiosity, encourage empathy, and make complex concepts feel playful, inclusive, and beautifully accessible.
I’m currently looking for literary agent representation to grow my publishing practice across Australia and internationally.
If you’re an agent or publisher searching for expressive, story-rich illustration that celebrates learning, nature, and big ideas for curious kids—I’d love to connect.
